I am a black man in America, a child of Martin Luther King jr and brother to Tupac Shakur, a civil rights preacher and a thug, that died violently in this land. Dying for generations. I cared about 9/11, but I didn't care more for the Trade centers--a once in a lifetime attack--more than I care for children like Derrion--the young black man-- dying everyday in this country.
My thoughts: how much billions and how many lives will be given to the 3000 dead on 9/11, and for what? Revenge or control? Death in foreign lands. Yet, how many billions and how many lives can be saved in my hoods if our government allocated a fraction, a tenth to the cause of my brothers...What 9/11 means to you, Derrion means to me?
I relive 9/11 everyday and every time one of our young black men die in these streets: its my collective nature...black men want to help America inspire the world, but America itself needs to accept the inspiration first. ... Read More
Help me understand, please? Death led a nation into a period of mourning, so it is good to respond with more death?
It happens everyday in my streets, death does. And it is a horrible and crippling reality. Yet some nations boast in its ability to deliver death and destruction. Nations that are part of this violent world, a world where death happens more than child birth.
